Climate The Tschafon and Schlern massifs shield off the Tiers Valley from the winds coming from the north. To the west the valley is closed off by the Tschafon and Rosengarten, while to the south is protected by thick woods. Its position shielded off from the wind and the presence of many trees create a warmer microclimate compared to the normal values typical of these heights. As in the case of most of the southern slopes of the Alps, it does not rain very often during the summer. The first snowfall of the year is usually during the second half of November. The thawing usually goes from the end of February to mid-March.

We Protect Our Environment There are two hydroelectric power plants in the municipality of Tiers. The town has a water treatment plant since 1980. The town has a differentiated refuse collection system as well as a free shuttle service (summer and winter) to reach the local ski resorts. Let's avoid producing wastes – this is a desire shared by all of the inhabitants of Tiers. We use glass bottles instead of plastic bottles for water and we avoid buying products with packages that are not recyclable. We collect our garbage separately so that it can be recycled: • paper (give to the hotelier) • glass (give to the hotelier) • biodegradable wastes (give to the hotelier) • non-biodegradable wastes (give to the hotelier) • cans (give to the hotelier) • batteries - to be thrown away in the appropriate bins in front of shops • fluorescent lamps (give to the hotelier or household appliance shops)
RULES OF THE NATURAL PARK: it is absolutely forbidden to destroy trees or plants or damage the animals' habitat; • collect minerals or stones or cut off tree roots, etc.; • pick flowers or mushrooms of any kind; • camp in tents or park caravans, light fires and make camp; • it is forbidden to make noise or bother the park's quiet; • do not scatter any trash; • you can use the forest and by-roads; • the municipal authorities grant special permits to travel over the forest roads with farm vehicles; • You can apply to the mayor for a special permit to collect minerals.
