Alpe di Siusi & Sciliar
Extensive plateau and imposing peak
The Sciliar: alpine cult place, witches dancing mountain and
symbol of South Tyrol. Even though it is not very high with its 2,563 m, it is very impressive none the less. Its bizarre shape with two translocated mountain peaks, the Santner Peak (2,413 m) and the Euringer Peak (2,394 m) make it unmistakable.
Always and forever a mystic place. It is believed that the Sciliar Witches used to hold their meetings here and dance on the "witch benches", a striking stone formation.
The Sciliar Mountain Massif borders the biggest high alpine plateau in Europe –
Alpe di Siusi. Alpe di Siusi extends across
56k m², whereby the lowest point is at 1,850 m, and the highest at 2,350m. The biggest high alpine plateau in Europe is part of the most renowned
hiking areas in Europe. Also in winter the high alpine plateau offers numerous sport options face-to-face with the Sciliar Mountain!
